The Rev. Ronald S. Fisher, Rector
Ronald Fisher has been Ascension's rector for over twenty years, and is a Communion Partner Rector. A native Marylander, he attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Virginia Theological Seminary. Ordained in 1983, Fr. Ron began his ministry at St. Thomas’ Church, Garrison Forest in Owings Mills. As part of his ministry at Ascension he is involved in the local community, serving on several agency and non-profit boards over the years; he is also an active member of the local Ministerium. He enjoys swimming, sailing, downhill skiing, roller coasters and toy trains.
The Rev. Barbara A. Sears, Deacon
Barbara Sears grew up in Baltimore City and graduated from Western Maryland College and Morgan State College. After retiring from teaching math in Baltimore County, she was ordained to the diaconate in 1995. She returned to Ascension Church, her home parish, in July 2012 after serving parishes in Braddock Heights, Monkton, Hampstead, and Mt. Airy. Deacon Barbara’s ministry is focused in the areas of Outreach and Pastoral Care, and she also serves as a spiritual care volunteer at Carroll Hospital Center. She and her husband Bill enjoy traveling, especially in the western states and day-hiking on the C&O Canal.
